The Human Abstract “On indefinite hiatus”. Well that’s shitty…
A great band goes on hiatus…click here for more info on the situation. Heavy Blog pretty much has it covered so just go there and read what they have to say, I wouldn’t do The Human Abstract any justice anyways. At least there is this:
Qreview! The Human Abstract – “Digital Veil”
Opening with a heart felt “Elegiac”, The Human Abstract set the tone for their album “Digital Veil”. Cutting straight into “Complex Terms”, which is a slow melody of rhythm changes and guitar diddles. Actually that pretty much sums up the record as a whole. Travis Richter has a great vocal range, from screaming to sounding as if he was Matthew Bellamy from Muse. Musically, it’s pretty genius in terms of guitar leads and drum patterns. Some of the rhythm guitars are a little boring here and there. Just some chugging riffs, which isn’t horrible by any means but I think they could have thought of something else to put there.
In a nutshell, the entire time I was listening to this I kept thinking “If you like technical melodic metal with Muse vocals, then this is for you.” I think their weakest song is the title track, “Digital Veil”. The song is friggin’ boring.
Pros: Excellent music, vocals are good
Cons: Album is kinda short: only 7 songs (intro does not count), rhythm guitars are boring at times
4 out of 5
Best Tracks: Complex Terms, Faust, Holographic Sight, Horizon to Zenith, Patterns
