Man, if this was a fucking Bugs Bunny cartoon his fingers would tie itself into a knot. This is impressive and it’s more than just needless noodling, it’s creative and not only are his leads out of this world, his rhythm is fucking heavy. This is fucking awesome, Jeff Loomis is the man!
Paul Wardingham is currently recording his new concept album “The Human Affliction”, set to be released mid-2012. So in the mean time, celebrate the one year anniversary of his last release, “Assimilate Regenerate“, he has released this video of him performing the song “Fields of Utopia“. Enjoy.
Paul Wardingham Announces Forthcoming Release ‘The Human Affliction’
Australian guitar shredder and producer, Paul Wardingham, has announced ‘The Human Affliction’ as the title of his new instrumental cyber metal album.
Wardingham, who released his acclaimed debut ‘Assimilate Regenerate’ in 2011 through Enigmatic Records, says this second full-length will be a concept album.
“I wasn’t planning on making an album like this for a few years, but the music began to take on a life of its own and a story materialized from the themes of each track” says Wardingham. “Assimilate Regenerate was conceptual in that it was inspired by science fiction, future technology and the effect it has on society, and I have always had visual references in my mind associated to the music I write, so it feels quite natural to progress to an album like this.”
Chris Corey from Last Chance To Reason shared a video yesterday on Facebook. That video was Eric Czar playing a cover of Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean“. I tapped my foot and liked what I was hearing. So I visit Eric’s YouTube page and listen to his many original music pieces he has put together. Truly moving and inspiring work, I highly recommend checking out his YouTube page and his BandPage.
The site: Bandhappy. The band: Last Chance To Reason. I suppose they will be offering classes and teaching what they know to those who care to know it.
“SO STOKED to have these boys on here… Every single one of these guys can play like a monster! You need to check out Last Chance to Reason and make sure to take lessons with these guys on BANDHAPPY!!!!!”
I am curious, I wonder how this works. I’ll be paying attention to Bandhappy and hopefully I will learn something. Last Chance To Reason is boss. Go listen to their epic album, Level 2.
Bedroom artists are not scarce, however true talent such as this is a rarity. Ben Sharp is the artist here and his project, Cloudkicker, is amazing music. While the main focus of this website is music that will make you headbang ferociously, I do enjoy something more thought out and melodic, ambient and subtle. Let Yourself Be Huge is just that and done masterfully. 25 minutes of truly great and breathtaking music. The guitar playing is romantic in a way and performance on this EP is executed flawlessly. The song titles fit in with the music wonderfully, as was the case with Beacons. It adds to the song a little more and I can’t explain why. They are the only lyric to the song in a way.
Let Yourself Be Huge is one of my favorite instrumental albums of the year. There are no overly done gimmicks and wacky guitar solos. Just straight up rhythm and ambiance. It’s so well done, magical and beautiful. It’s hard to find the right words to express my appreciation of the hard work put into this album. It’s just SO FREAKING GOOD!
Pros: Everything. Literally: everything.
Cons: Only the weird in and out of the final riff on the song “Explore, be curious“…but that’s no big deal.
