Jeff Hughell (Brain Drill, Vile) joins SIX FEET UNDER as new bassist.

From SFU’s Facebook post:

Within days of announcing the departure of Matt DeVries, SIX FEET UNDER has locked in the latest addition to the bands already heavy and extremely talented lineup. Seven-string bassist Jeff Hughell, formally of the Santa Cruz California technical death metal band Brain Drill and Concord California death metal band Vile, will be joining the ranks as the new SIX FEET UNDER bassist. Check out a video of Jeff shredding on his bass HERE.

Vocalist Chris Barnes comments; “Six Feet Under is proud to announce our new member, bass player Jeff Hughell. He’s an amazing musician and I have been a fan of his work since first hearing Brain Drill a few years back. We feel with the addition of Jeff, all the puzzle pieces are in place and the killing machine known as Six Feet Under is now a true death metal force to be reckoned with! Prepare to be toe tagged and body bagged.”

Jeff Hughell adds; “I am honored to be the newest edition to the mighty Six Feet Under. This band is now a well oiled killing machine with Kevin Talley and myself as the rhythm section, Steve Swanson and Rob Arnold crushing guitars, and of course the man himself Chris Barnes killing it on vocals. The new material is the heaviest Six Feet Under songs I have ever heard and I can’t wait for the world to get their faces melted clean off by it. I would like to thank Mike Faley, Kelli Malella and the whole Six Feet Under family for thinking of me. It’s going to be one hell of a ride!”

Stay tuned to SFU420.com, Facebook.com/SixFeetUnder, and MetalBlade.com for album news and tour dates.

Well at least they got someone with some talent to play bass, I wonder how this tech death bass player will fit in and hopefully add something amazing to SFU’s already thunderous groove sound.

Six Feet Under – Beneath A Black Sky

look to the sky
it’s turning black
no sun shining light
day turns into night
no moon above
lost in the shadows
eclipsing the sun
only darkness above

beneath a black sky

All life will end
infinite winter
eternal darkness
thunder cracks the silence
emptiness
above us only black
frozen stiff
nothing remains

beneath a black sky

look to the sky
it’s turning black
no sun shining light
day turns into night
emptiness
Above us only black
hollow horizon
No sun rising

Matt DeVries talks about Chimaira and the road ahead.

Guitarist Matt DeVries has released the following statement to ThePRP.com regarding his decision to leave Cleveland metallers CHIMAIRA:

“I wanted take a moment away from the road and personally reach out to each and every one of you to reflect on my recent decision to leave CHIMAIRA.

I’ve been with CHIMAIRA for over 10 years now, and in that period of time, I’ve had the chance to achieve a number of goals I set for myself early in life establishing myself as a musician, finding my own style and developing it within a band, touring every corner of the world, and connecting with people from all walks of life. I’m fortunate that my skills as a guitar player and musician have afforded me the opportunities to reach those goals.

Over the past year, I looked closely at what drove me, and asked myself where I wanted to go as both an artist and as a person. What motivated me as a kid from Cleveland wasn’t necessarily the same thing that now drives me today as a man with a family. I realized that as much as CHIMAIRA had defined my past decade and made me who I am today, it was time to explore my next decade of music, and grow into the person I need to be. For that reason, I have decided to leave CHIMAIRA.

It goes without saying that CHIMAIRA has some of the best fans in the world, and I’d like to thank each and every one of you out there who has ever supported us. Every show, every photograph, every backstage meet-and-greet, every truck stop, every scorching hot day on a summer festival, and every cold night out by the bus I will never forget you. You have inspired me, driven me, and taught me humility through your own personal experiences and words in ways I never thought possible. I am forever in debt to you. Thank you.

To my brothers in CHIMAIRA both past and present, both band and road crew thank you for your support, your desire to go for it in the face of adversity, and most of all, your passion to pursue a dream together. To my sponsors ESP guitars, Peavey, In Tune guitar picks, EMG pickups, ISP technologies, Keetch clothing, Scorpion cases, Guitar-Cable.com, Dean Markley strings, Jagermeister Music we’ve had some great years together, and I’m looking forward to many more writing great music with you behind me. The Matt DeVries rocket has only just taken off!

Music’s in my blood, it’s who I am, and it’s my life. You might wonder if my departure from CHIMAIRA will change that, and my answer is simple no way. Planning for 2012 is already underway! For starters, I’m looking forward to the opportunities within SIX FEET UNDER, and seeing what potential lies ahead. I’m also very excited about the possibility of providing instruction to other guitar players through online educational platforms, and am currently in talks with JamPlay to make that happen. I’m also a big believer in the next generation of social media, and am committed to connecting with those interested in working with me or wanting to follow me. To help me do that, I will be launching a massive online campaign in 2012, complete with a new website, significant Facebook presence, revitalized Twitter feed, and fresh YouTube content all with a surprise in mind.

Finally, I’m thrilled at the possibility of writing new music for organizations that I have long been interested in, and also at working the daily grind in two new ground-floor startups that I’m developing with those close to me. The music industry of tomorrow will merge technology with music, and it will flourish only by developing younger artists in a unique way that sits outside traditional thinking. I’m proud to be part of that movement in 2012.

If you get a chance to see me on this final tour run with CHIMAIRA, please feel free to stop by and say hi. It’s a great tour with a great lineup, and I’m having a blast talking with friends and fans alike on my final run.

2012 is gonna be a great year. Let’s make it happen together!”

Six Feet Under – 4:20

Sit back and hold your breath, just let nature take effect
A warm glow inside my bones
The touch of velvet rubbed against my soul
Thoughts of things you’ve always known
Thoughts of things you’ve always known
Break through and listen, to yourself
To your Self

Let go of perception – enter true reality
I can see through my third eye…
Sit back and hold your breath, just let nature take effect
A warm glow inside my bones
The touch of velvet rubbed against my soul
Thoughts of things you’ve always known
Thoughts of things you’ve always known
Break through and listen, to yourself
To your Self

Let go of perception – enter true reality
A sea of green will set us free
Dank
Expand my inner being
Through what the Earth provides
I hear her voice ailing
The hour has arrived…

Sit back and hold your breath, just let nature take effect
A warm glow inside my bones
The touch of velvet rubbed against my soul
Thoughts of things you’ve always known
Thoughts of things you’ve always known
Break through and listen, to yourself
To your Self

Let go of perception – enter true reality
It’s 4:20

Gore: The most disturbing songs. Part III

Amputated – Raped with a Jackhammer

“Churning your cunt lips into a paste
Chunks of your pussy splatter my face
Savouring the drops of gore
With every lick i want you more

Jackhammer cracks her pelvis
What a site, a scene from hell
This horrid work of corpse defilement
As i rape her perfect dead cunt”

Exhumed – Dinnertime in the Morgue

“Sludge and grume – Viscous gore
Pyomorphism rots – To the core
Spawning ground – For grubs and worms
Infested gut – In your grave you turn…

Bowels bleeding black – As they are consumed
Intestinal tract – splatters all over your tomb
Consuming impulse – The larvae are gorged
The corpse starts to convulse – Dinnertime in the morgue”

Six Feet Under – Impulse to Disembowel

“Back again to kill and gut
I crave intestine
Fist-fucked reduced to a stump
Kill – all

Skinless body
Naked hanging
Blood as draining
Carving, killing
Swollen beauty
Holes appearing
Brutalizing, convulsing
Skinned and greasy
Still breathing
Anal carving
Holes are oozing
Slit your throat – deep
Off cane your head
Pulled out the guts
Right through your fucking neck!”

Six Feet Under are killing it on Summer Slaughter.

Six Feet Under have always been a personal favorite of mine. Them and Dying Fetus would be my reasons to go to the Summer Slaughter tour this year. So far reviews and videos are quite impressive on SFU’s set. Some saying they are stealing the show and the re-vitalized Six Feet Under is impressing crowds and sounding better than ever. See for yourself, Six Feet Under playing some old school Cannibal Corpse (Stripped, Raped and Strangled – Hammer Smashed Face).

Six Feet Under Chimaira sounds fucking great!!!

Random Lyric of the Day! Six Feet Under – “Sick in the Head”

I gotta find my way outta hell- I gotta find my way alone
I see myself dead by suicide by a knife, gun, a blade- or hanging high
Will I be safe or will I die can I stop the voices deep inside, my mind

Dead to me- you’re dead to me- you’re dead to me, all dead to me
Oh my fucking God!

I’m a victim I’ve lived through disaster- pushed too far this is a reaction
I hate your lies. I hate my life

Dead to me- you’re dead to me- you’re dead to me, all dead to me
Oh my fucking God!

I’m a victim I’ve lived through disaster- pushed too far this is a reaction- to you
I hate your lies. I hate my life

Hoping I’ll find a way, a way to live, dead together
A way to hide my fears, a way to disappear
I can’t take it- I won’t make it, I ll just hate it- I can’t take it
I won’t make it- I just hate it, I can’t take it
I can’t change it- I can’t take it- I can’t take it, I won’t make it

Dead to me- you’re dead to me- you’re dead to me, all dead to me
Dead dead you’re soon to be dead
I put a 12-gauge under my chin
Dead to me- you’re dead to me- you’re dead to me, all dead to me
Oh my fucking God!

I’m a victim, I’ve lived through disaster- pushed too far this is a reaction
died a thousand times again and again-in my mind- I have died
I have slowly withered
