WRECKOMMENDATION: BATTLECROSS – Pursuit of Honor

This week my wreckommendation is for a band I’ve recently become a fan of. I saw Battlecross open up for Hate Eternal and Goatwhore and they won me over and they were just fun, entertaining and overall a good time. That didn’t stop there because I kept listening to them and their newest album called “Pursuit of Honor“. They are a melodic thrash metal band featuring a vocalist who has a good range and uses primarily harsh vocals. They are just a beer drinkin, mosh startin, headbangin good time. Check them out!

CRATOR: A Brand New Death Metal Band featuring members of ORIGIN, KRALLICE, MUCOPUS, and TENTACLES

Crator come out of nowhere and put this work out. Head on over to their Facebook page, give them a “like” then listen in on the 3 song demo they have on their music tab. The tunes are pretty rad. This is a random special treat, you usually don’t get some good new music that is this good early in the morning like this. Not much info has been released. I don’t see anything specific about band members, when an official release will be put out or if they are even a touring act. I just know that this death metal is gooooood.

Check em out, go forth and headbang.

GALAKTIKON: Brendon Small’s (Dethklok) Sweet Metal Project Contains Some Impressive Music And Vocals!

It’s obvious that Brendon Small is a genius and ultra talented person. He managed to create a bad ass metal cartoon show with actual music that he himself made, went on tour under the Dethklok name and lived like a rock star with one of the coolest tour buses I’ve ever seen. Now Mr. Small is putting out another big hit, this time with his new project Galaktikon and I must say….bravo. I didn’t know what to expect but I had a feeling it would just sound like Dethklok. Well…no actually, not even close. The song “On My Way” has no death metal vocals or even super fast tremolo picking and blast beats. It features some great riffs, sweet licks and a groovy bass line. Drums are great and the coolest thing about the vocals is there is actual singing going on. It’s like Snakes n Barrels meets Devin Townsend in a weird way. Just listen to the song, you’ll dig it.

RISE AND GRINDCORE + It’s Going To Be A Slow Week On Here: Headbang or GTFO News

Due to being incredibly busy here at my real job, I’ll be rarely able to make a post. Not only do I have this job kicking my ass, I also have Nile to see on Wednesday and take some photos of them and write their review. I’m also currently listening to 3 Inches of Blood, At The Graves and Inverloch for review. So that is what to expect either later this week or next week.

Another development this week is the fact that Headbang or GTFO will be an official DOT COM website this week. The transition is already happening and I’ll finally have a real URL. Hurray!

So with that said please have a great day/week and keep listening to the only music that truly matters. Now here is your Monday morning rise and grind: Anal Cunt, Wormrot, Insect Warfare & Terrorizer

NEW SONG – MESHUGGAH – I Am Colossus (Free Download)

Scion AV…coming through with a new Meshuggah track “I Am Colossus“. So while you eat your burger or sandwich, enjoy this meaty goodness too. Click here to get to the new song.

I Am Colossus’ is way more straightforward than the thrash metal we grew up with.  At the same time, it does pose its own difficulties for us as players.  It will probably be one of the first songs we attempt to play on tour. The solo – which is basically two long notes that are slow bends – just turned out beautiful.  Such an understatement as a guitar solo.  Sometimes a slow song is just as aggressive as a fast one.”  -Tomas Haake (Meshuggah Drummer)

Meshuggah’s new album, Koloss, drop March 27th via Nuclear Blast.

GOD FORBID – Where We Come From (Music Video)

Really cool video that shows the band working their normal jobs before they hit the stage and act like true rock stars. It’s not all about bitches and tour buses people. These guys work hard and have worked hard for over a decade.

NEW SONG: MARASMUS – Casket Made of Ivory

One last thing, Marasmus out of Kansas City, MO just released a new single from their new album, Mountains of Dead, coming out this Spring on Disgorge Media. The song is Casket Made of Ivory isn’t exactly new for the band but they’ve put a lot of work into this and reconstructed it and polished it up and put it out for us to consume. Enjoy some brutal death metal, enjoy MARASMUS.

Album Review! SPAWN OF POSSESSION – Incurso

When the music starts, it’s a quick tease of heaviness then an epic introduction that reminds me of the Mako Reactor soundtrack from Final Fantasy 7 when you first start the game. When that is done, it’s straight into technical death metal greatness. Spawn of Possession are rather new to me, I’ve never really listened to them before. When they released a single of theirs about a month ago I was swept off of my feet and highly anticipating the release of their album, “Incurso“. Well now it’s here: the first thing you notice is the art. The album art is fucking nuts, I don’t know what that floating thing is but it looks like is has nothing but bad intentions for that dude and the entire world.

Back to the music, you have some of the most exciting and creative song writing since Necrophagist’sEpitaph“. The riffs are very technical and melodic at the same time and somehow amidst all of that chaos they hold down a very tight rhythmic pattern that is unlike anything I’ve previously heard. Bass guitar has unique patterns and leads as well and what I love about the bass guitar is the fact it’s pretty audible. It’s not overwhelming or behind the drums, it’s perfectly blended with the music. The drums…..I bet drummer Henrik Schönström must put WD-40 on his joints after performing each song because his intensity, speed and savagery is just pushing the limits as to what can be done by a human being on that kit. Vocals are mainly low with some mid-range screaming in there. He does this thing that many tech death bands do and that’s grunt 10,000 words a minute. Growling out words as fast as the double bass drum is going. The band as a whole has created one hell of an album and if you enjoy technical death metal, you’re in for a treat.

THE TIDE WILL TAKE US – A Slightly Different Take On Deathcore; New Album Coming Soon

Wasaga Beach, ON’s melodic deathcore band THE TIDE WILL TAKE US has announced it will be officially releasing its full-length album “Putrid Dynasty” produced by Jon Howard of Threat Signal and Bjorn “Speed” Strid of Soilwork on Tuesday, May 1st, 2012.

The album is the follow up to their self-titled 5-song debut EP, produced by Kent Sheehey (The Vegas Wake Up) and is a sonic fury that is immediately audible as it rips, pounds and rages through your ears. Song names like “Choke On Your Regret”, “Putrid Dynasty”, “Concubine Queen” and “Metastasize & Consume” demonstrate TTWTU‘s reach to the deepest, darkest abscesses of the listener’s brain before even a single note sounds and conjures grotesque imagery.

“When gearing up to record “Putrid Dynasty” we wanted to expand our sound, but also keep the same feel as our self-titled EP. Working with two professional musicians was quite the change, though, as it pushed us to write the best material we’ve written so far. It was a hard adjustment to make and was also very intimidating to work with Jon Howard, Canadian native and vocalist of Threat Signal, but just as rattling if not more to work with Björn “Speed” Strid of the Swedish Metalcore act Soilwork. We got to explore various tone options for drums, guitars and bass and the vocal tracking was extremely fun and experimental. We are very proud of our full-length album “Putrid Dynasty” and we are very excited for its May 2012 release,” commented TTWTU guitarist Mike Longeri.

Concert Review! HATE ETERNAL

Erik, J.J. and Jade set up and the two front men turn their backs to us and check their tuning (I’m guessing), making sure everything is ready for what is about to happen. The main lights dim and the stage is illuminated with a dark blue color. Erik gets the guitar to scream a little and he and J.J. turn around to begin the sudden slaughter. The sheer brutality and immense sound that comes from the band from here on out was absolutely amazing. This was my first time seeing Hate Eternal live and It was far more satisfying that I had hoped for.

The sound was absolutely breathtaking and true to how the albums sound. Jade’s drumming was impeccable and the performance on J.J.’s and Erik’s fretboard was very impressive. J.J.’s work on that bass guitar was mind blowing and he is incredibly over looked when it comes to talented bass guitarists and even vocals. I managed to talk to both Erik and J.J. briefly and it’s awesome how two genuinely nice guys can growl and scream and play such savage music. They play their music with intensity and precision, the band’s sound throughout the entire set was very tight and just massive. Not one note was fucked up (from what I could hear, I was headbanging quite a bit) and these guys play with a fierce fire in their hearts and it truly shows on stage.

Don’t You Just Love Finding A New Band And They Kick Your Ass? UNSACRED Does Just That!

Blackened Hardcore? Never thought I would see those two words together. Never thought they would work so well together too! Unsacred, hailing from Virginia, produce an almost entirely new sound of metal. With the epic feel of black metal, the violent behavior of hardcore tempos, Unsacred mesh together a sound that is frighteningly good. The EP they have on their bandcamp is great and I fully enjoyed it from start to finish. The vocals are loud and obnoxious like a good hardcore/punk band, the riffs are superior and the drum work holds things down really tight. I love it when the band slows it down just a little bit and adds that third element to the party, sludge. This band nails 3 genres really well and blends them all together to produce something new, something great. Check them out on their bandcamp and their Facebook page! \w/

If You Enjoy Classy Music Such As Brutal Death Grind Slam Then You’ll Love The Guttural Blastphemy That Is COPROCEPHALIC

Coprocephalic is one of these brutal guttural death grind bands who want to nothing but destroy your beliefs and rape your soul. The only difference between this band and most other bands is the brief guitar solo’s we get and I like them! Coprocephalic is definitely heavy and you’ll get an odd look from strangers while blasting this from your car in traffic, but you don’t care….you want them to die anyways. Check out their Facebook page and headbang! Out of coffee? BLAST COPROCEPHALIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Enjoy their promo below, their sound/production is fucking awesome.

Fuck Your Way To The Garden: New SYSTEM OF A DOWN Footage! Watch “Aerials” and “Suite-Pee” Live!

Recently System of a Down have been in the land down under to play along with the Soundwave Festival that is happening down there. While performing these songs, they had some guests come on stage and have fun with them. During Aerials they had Ben Weinman from Dillinger Escape Plan and for Suite-Pee they had Joey Jordison from Slipknot. It feels incredible to see the band performing something from their very first album. They need to do a US/NA tour where they headline and play that entire album in full!!! I DEMAND IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CATTLE DECAPITATION: PERFORM NEW TRACKS LIVE? (Video)

I fucking love Cattle Decapitation. The video shows them opening up with a song that does not sound familiar to me at all, so my initial reaction is “OH BOY NEW SONG!!!!”. If I am wrong, continue to flame me in the comments section. Oh the video shows the band performing a new track then “A Body Farm” & what sounds to be another new track!
