BORN OF THE STORM: A New Jam Band With Mark Morton (Lamb of God), Dez Fafara (Devildriver, Coal Chamber) & Kevin Talley (Chimaira, Misery Index). Two Tracks Available.

The guys got together and wrote some songs for fun and the end result is a sound that isn’t neither Lamb of God or Devildriver…not even close. It’s more of a southern sludge feel and a rock n roll vibe than anything, sorta like Black Label Society. Two songs were recently released and both aren’t bad, they are definitely good enough to be played on the radio but nothing that would get rotated on my….mp3 player. Even though this isn’t necessarily my cup o tea, it’s still decent. Enjoy the two tracks, Nowhere Fast and Dust by Born of the Storm.

Album Review! Aborted – Global Flatline

Tone is heavy, drums are fucking nuts and vocals kill your ears (in a good way). Aborted’sGlobal Flatline” is fucking awesome! Each time I listen to this monster it always makes me energetic, alert and happy. How could such a brutal grind/death metal album make me happy? Let’s see…..let’s start off with the epic amount of endless riffs that is pumped out on this album. Seriously, if you enjoy rhythm guitar, Aborted does not disappoint. I fucking love great riffs and song writing and Global Flatline fucking brings it song after song after song. Just endless riffing, blasting and screaming. Makes me wish I was in a mosh pit each and every time I listen to this record. The intensity of the band is unmatched, I haven’t heard anything close to this in a long fucking time. Drumming is more than just mammoth double bass and blast beats, there are incredible rhythm sections and fills throughout the entire album. Vocals are changed up quite a bit, being ultra guttural and then a higher raspier scream that sounds like no one else.

It seems most of the good shows are out of the United States anymore…

Let’s be honest, the US of A still gets some good tours. I am not bitching about that. However, it seems Australia and especially Europe gets the solid tours. Europe takes the cake for festivals though…with Mayhem and Ozzfest being complete bullshit anymore…shows like Download and Wacken create a small temporary country of metalheads and moshpits. It’s an amazing site to be seen in photos, I cannot imagine being there in person. It must be the most powerful feeling for a band to perform in front of a sea of people. Banners and tits everywhere, it’s to die for.

I see flyers for tours in Europe and I get jealous. The entire line up, or atleast more than 75% of the bands, are solid. Each match up in terms of genre of music and how epic the bands are. Take this for example, I really want to see this show!

I know it says 40 more acts to be announced but…c’mon….CANNIBAL CORPSE AND BEHEMOTH HEADLINING?!?!?! That’s some of the heaviest music in the world…sharing the stage. I really hope those two…and Suffocation, Napalm Death and let me throw in a personal fav…NILE tour the US. That would make for a happy Mergel.
