Chris Letchford of SCALE THE SUMMIT Sits Down And Jams Out “Redwoods” For Us.

One thing is for sure, Scale the Summit is one of the best instrumental bands out there right now. This particular video is of guitarist Chris Letchford playing his semi-hollow 7 string for the song “Redwoods“, a single that was released exclusively on their vinyl release of “The Collective“. Yesterday, Axl Rosenberg of MetalSucks brought up the trend of these play through videos and why it’s become the norm for bands now-a-days to put these out. Rob Pasbani of Metal Injection brought up a great point bringing up that not only do they generate hits and interest for the band and their label, it’s relatively cheap compared to your usual music video. I personally love them, I appreciate the artist a little more when I see him performing his craft. I enjoy watching these guitar/bass fretboard videos. I think it’s genius and I’d much rather see the actual artist play their music than some cover who may or may not know it correctly. Don’t let YouTube be your only viewing of a band though, go see them live! I kick myself for not seeing Scale The Summit, I hope they come through again soon.

What do you think about the trend of these play through videos? Do you think it takes the mystery out of the music? Do your respect the musician a little more?

MetalSucks Premieres New Track! 7 HORNS 7 EYES – Divine Amnesty

Head on over to MetalSucks and listen to the track. Vince says “7 Horns 7 Eyes are cinematic, dramatic, intense, dark and moody — characteristics that aren’t necessarily that hard to find in metal — but the way these guys put all the pieces together is wholly unique and fresh.” and I would have to agree with him. This track sounds really fucking…..NEW. Blending the best part from a few genres and turning it into this massive beast of a track. I hope the entire album is as good as this!

3 Metal Blogs Bring You: SOUTH BY SOUTH DEATH

This show looks tits. I wanna go!

South By South Death is brought to you by Metalsucks, Metal Injection and Metal Insider. Which bands are you excited to see?

I Never Thought I Would HATE A Man & Band So Quickly. “All races are welcome except for blacks”

Fuck this piece of shit and fuck his band.

Metalsucks has provided us with one good read due to this ass hats recent advertisement.

Click here to read his ad. The ad contains samples of his work…..which is awful.

Ex-Mudslide Frontman the great Steve Thunderbolt seeks a talented bassist and drummer to form a new heavy metal band. I play rhythm and lead guitar and sing. I play thrash, black, and glam metal. The only band in the history of heavy metal who has ever attempted this was Celtic Frost. It failed because they were too much glam and not enough black and thrash metal. I am the other way around, in that I have more black and thrash metal songs than I do glam songs, but I do have blonde hair so I have a glam image. I have a 12 track recorder and have made numerous cds for Mudslide including “Secret Right to Rock and Roll Reloaded,” “Dragonfly of Passion,” “Hollywood and Vine,” “Columbia City Theater Live,” “Studio 7 Live,” “The Central Saloon Live 1 and 2,” “Station 56 Live,” “Chai House Live,” “Colortura,” “Merkava,” “Dark Prophet,” and our last album, “In My Final Hours.” I have a lot of gigging experience and have my own amps and equipment. Please be over 21 and under 45. Alcohol and drugs are fine except for heroin and crack, so if you are into heroin or crack please do not respond to this ad. All races are welcome except for blacks, so if you are black, pleae do not respond to this ad. I am not racist, it is a drug issue and a safety issue and I cannot have black people at my house. I live in Issaquah and use my house as a practice space. So if you wanna do something that’s only been attempted once before in the entire history of music, email mudsliderock@gmail.com or call 425-306-9353. Belive me, where Celtic Frost failed, I will succeed.

Learn to play your instruments. There are high school kids that out perform you. Fuck “Steve Thunderbolt”, go die.

Thank You For A Great Start In 2011.

I was sharing metal news from my Facebook page before I started this blog. I spammed my wall feed to my friends about shit that is coming out, bands coming to town and every once in a while I did a review for an album. Early 2011 I heard some music that inspired me to do this even more. I wanted to find some bands that were new (to me) and share them. The first band to do this was Woods of Ypres. Then it progressed to other bands in many many different genres. I hit up websites and stalked the Metal Injection forum and had some back n forth banter with some people. I love what Metal Injection and MetalSucks does for the community. They are big time blogs doing some big time shit: interviews, exclusives and tons of content. What really made me want to start MY own blog was this duo of blogs that I thought were great. One is Heavy Blog Is Heavy and the other is American Aftermath.

MetalSucks premieres some really kick ass music! Nothnegal’s “Janus” is sure to make you headbang.

MetalSucks – Maybe it’s something in the water (The Indian Ocean), but Nothnegal aren’t the first band MetalSucks has featured from the tiny Maldives island chain, some 400 miles off the southern tip of India. I wouldn’t be too quick to call the Maldives a hot-bed for metal just yet, though; cousins Hilarl and Fufu, the band’s main creative forces, had to import musicians from as far away as America and Finland to round out their lineup. The cousins are supported by Six Feet Under, Dååth, ex-Chimaira drummer Kevin Talley and Finnish keyboard player Marco Sneck (Kalmah, Poisonblack) on their new album Decadence, which comes out on January 24th via Season of Mist. But the results paid off; Nothnegal are definitely worth a look by MetalSucks readers.

“Janus” is one of the record’s slower tracks, but that’s why we like it. The song’s deliberate pace allows plenty of room to breathe for the keyboards, which at times throughout Decadence can become overbearing. The result is a moody, doomy and dark yet aggressive slice of genre-melding metal that reminds me somewhat of Ihsahn or his backing band Leprous. Stream “Janus” below.”

Bonus: if you pre-order a copy of Decadence you’ll be automatically entered to win an all expenses paid trip to the Maldives! The 5-day journey will take place at the Fihalhohi Island Resort in Summer 2012. The winner will receive one return flight to the Maldives, an all-inclusive stay (including scuba-diving and other water sport activities) for two people and a meet and greet with the band.
