The band that helped mold brutal death metal, Cannibal Corpse, has just put out their 12th studio album entitled “Torture“. Corpsegrinder and the gang are back to their usual thing, making heavy death metal while keeping that Cannibal groove about it. Ultra heavy and quite homicidal, Torturekeeps this tradition going. If you liked The Wretched Spawn & Killthen you’ll love Torture, I feel like those two albums are the most similar to this newest installment. There are fast thrash metal parts, slow slamming groove sections and plenty of mosh starting, headbanging moments as well. Some of the riff work on the album is refreshing and fun, the bass guitar is (finally) more audible and the drums are back with that Cannibal thirst for blood.
I could just say “It’s a Cannibal Corpse album, either you already like them or you don’t. Check it out” and let that do the talking. Not much has changed since The Wretched Spawn. The sound is the same, the brutality is there, the tones/drums/vocals sound pretty much the same. Nothing has really changed. Honestly, that is a good thing because I have fully enjoyed what Camp Corpse has been doing for the last 2 decades. Tortureis just another chapter of damn good songs in the book of death metal. It’s a neck breaker of an album and hearing the guys perform them live will be a great experience. Another thing that is consistent with Cannibal Corpse records: Listen to it loud and you’ll get a ring in your ears. This album is violently loud just like Killand Evisceration Plague was so warn your girlfriend ahead of time. She’ll appreciate it.
Scion AV…coming through with a new Meshuggah track “I Am Colossus“. So while you eat your burger or sandwich, enjoy this meaty goodness too. Click here to get to the new song.
‘I Am Colossus’ is way more straightforward than the thrash metal we grew up with. At the same time, it does pose its own difficulties for us as players. It will probably be one of the first songs we attempt to play on tour. The solo – which is basically two long notes that are slow bends – just turned out beautiful. Such an understatement as a guitar solo. Sometimes a slow song is just as aggressive as a fast one.” -Tomas Haake (Meshuggah Drummer)
Meshuggah’s new album, Koloss, drop March 27th via Nuclear Blast.
Blackened thrash band Melechesh will be releasing a 3 song EP called “Mystics of the Pillar II” on April 27th in Europe and May 1st in North America via Nuclear Blast Records.
01. Mystics Of The Pillar (Alternate Ending)
02. Sacred Geometry (Instrumental)
03. The Epigenesis (Instrumental)
Ashmedi of Melechesh commented: “We recorded two different ending version of ‘Mystics Of The Pillar’ — this one changes tempo and picks up steam. Why? Because we felt like it; a song with two different endings is not too common in this day and age. Last minute we chose one to be included on the album, thus the second version was not mixed and mastered ’till a much later date. We also decided to release a couple of instrumental versions to our songs, namely ‘The Epigenesis’ title track, which is a 12-13 minute epic, and ‘Sacred Geometry’. Both are multifaceted and work perfect just as instrumental works. We actually have an instrumental version of the entire album mixed and mastered so enjoy these couple of tracks.”
Upon A Burning Body, not a band I listen to on a regular basis……actually not one I listen to at all. Not that they are bad but I usually default to Whitechapel and Suicide Silence for my deathcore needs. As I listen to this track, I realize that there is nothing particularly great about it. Just another track that says “Fuck” real loud and has gang vocals. Yawn. Well, I’m not impressed. Maybe next time.
God Forbid, a band I was heavily into around 2004-2005. Since then I really haven’t paid much attention to them, I lost interest. However, I’m very interested in this new album that they are about to release. They are now rocking some 7 string guitars and their sound is ultra heavy. The tone is obviously lower than classic God Forbid but I can definitely hear their own groove and style once again. I’m amped up for this new album! The song “Don’t Tell Me What to Dream” is a good one, check it out!
Man, if this was a fucking Bugs Bunny cartoon his fingers would tie itself into a knot. This is impressive and it’s more than just needless noodling, it’s creative and not only are his leads out of this world, his rhythm is fucking heavy. This is fucking awesome, Jeff Loomis is the man!
BERMUDA have made their new track “In Trenches”, which features a guest appearance by Kevin McCaughey of Ion Dissonance, available for streaming on their Facebook page, which can be found here http://www.facebook.com/bermudaca. The song, comes from the band’s new album ‘The Wandering‘, which will be available in stores and online April 24th through Mediaskare Records.
I just listened to the new track and it’s actually pretty heavy. Djenty, deathcore-y and overall just crunchy goodness. I do enjoy me some Bermuda now.

2/22 Oxford, MS – Oxford VFW
2/23 Summit, MS – Johnston Chapel United Methodist
2/24 Jackson, MS – The Carter
2/25 Baton Rouge, LA – Here Today Gone Tomorrow
2/26 Houston, TX – Anchor Church

2/29 Las Cruces, NM – Las Cruces Event Center
Soulfly are allowing us to download the new track “World Scum” guest appearing on vocals the Gore King Travis Ryan from Cattle Decapitation and his part gives me the fucking chills. “World Scum” is a good song that is heavy, fast and full of relentlessness ass kicking. You can get the track HERE but you only have 48 hours to do so. Get it now or miss out entirely.
This new song makes me want to kick down a fucking building.
Cute and hilariously heavy at the same time, Juliet comes out of nowhere and unleashes this hardcore song with one sweet breakdown on a trampoline, destroying all of those that get in her way in the pit. I applaud this and hope she puts out more songs/videos, because honestly this is great. I’m going to play this for my daughter when I get home.
I just subscribed, their little family looks so adorable and shows that even metal heads with tattoo’s and piercings can be good parents. =)
