NEW SONG: UPON A BURNING BODY – Sin City

Upon A Burning Body, not a band I listen to on a regular basis……actually not one I listen to at all. Not that they are bad but I usually default to Whitechapel and Suicide Silence for my deathcore needs. As I listen to this track, I realize that there is nothing particularly great about it. Just another track that says “Fuck” real loud and has gang vocals. Yawn. Well, I’m not impressed. Maybe next time.

THE TIDE WILL TAKE US – A Slightly Different Take On Deathcore; New Album Coming Soon

Wasaga Beach, ON’s melodic deathcore band THE TIDE WILL TAKE US has announced it will be officially releasing its full-length album “Putrid Dynasty” produced by Jon Howard of Threat Signal and Bjorn “Speed” Strid of Soilwork on Tuesday, May 1st, 2012.

The album is the follow up to their self-titled 5-song debut EP, produced by Kent Sheehey (The Vegas Wake Up) and is a sonic fury that is immediately audible as it rips, pounds and rages through your ears. Song names like “Choke On Your Regret”, “Putrid Dynasty”, “Concubine Queen” and “Metastasize & Consume” demonstrate TTWTU‘s reach to the deepest, darkest abscesses of the listener’s brain before even a single note sounds and conjures grotesque imagery.

“When gearing up to record “Putrid Dynasty” we wanted to expand our sound, but also keep the same feel as our self-titled EP. Working with two professional musicians was quite the change, though, as it pushed us to write the best material we’ve written so far. It was a hard adjustment to make and was also very intimidating to work with Jon Howard, Canadian native and vocalist of Threat Signal, but just as rattling if not more to work with Björn “Speed” Strid of the Swedish Metalcore act Soilwork. We got to explore various tone options for drums, guitars and bass and the vocal tracking was extremely fun and experimental. We are very proud of our full-length album “Putrid Dynasty” and we are very excited for its May 2012 release,” commented TTWTU guitarist Mike Longeri.

Don’t You Just Love Finding A New Band And They Kick Your Ass? UNSACRED Does Just That!

Blackened Hardcore? Never thought I would see those two words together. Never thought they would work so well together too! Unsacred, hailing from Virginia, produce an almost entirely new sound of metal. With the epic feel of black metal, the violent behavior of hardcore tempos, Unsacred mesh together a sound that is frighteningly good. The EP they have on their bandcamp is great and I fully enjoyed it from start to finish. The vocals are loud and obnoxious like a good hardcore/punk band, the riffs are superior and the drum work holds things down really tight. I love it when the band slows it down just a little bit and adds that third element to the party, sludge. This band nails 3 genres really well and blends them all together to produce something new, something great. Check them out on their bandcamp and their Facebook page! \w/

DEE SNIDER’S Daughter Is In A Band & She Is The Lead Vocalist; THEY ALL FLOAT

They All Float is not entirely bad. Harsh ocals sound a little throaty, like a frog trying to do them but they aren’t bad at all. Music sounds like a cross between hardcore/metalcore with a touch of Killswitch Engage’s melodic sense of the genres and the elegance of what In This Moment tries to capture. They All Float’s debut EP is alright for a new band, there is definitely room for improvement, I think they’ll find their way soon. However for now they need to focus on their own sound because blending a few influences from 7 years ago is rather boring. Also, the clean vocals are just off key and the harmony of both clean vocalists do not sound right at all. Stick to the harsh vocals, find your own style and run with it. This isn’t working and after one listen to the EP I’ve had enough.

Album Review! Exotic Animal Petting Zoo – Tree of Tongues

The name itself, Exotic Animal Petting Zoo, is enough to spark interest in many things. Especially if it’s a rock band, with a name like that you HAVE to see what they are about. I think it’s an incredible strategy because it immediately makes you want to read about the band, listen to the band and see what they have to offer. Well, once the music starts, Exotic Animal Petting Zoo come in and give us exactly what we should expect for the rest of their new album, “Tree of Tongues“. It’s a forceful impact of energy and just a huge wall of sound that isn’t like what I usually listen to. I’m usually the death, black, grind and doom kind of guy. With a few exceptions of course so when I saw that EAPZ was compared to bands like Deftones and Dillinger Escape Plan I was like “Yeah, fucking right. That’s some ballsy shit saying your sound is similar to their sound.” Well, they are pretty fucking close and so much more. Exotic Animal Petting Zoo’sTree of Tongues” is new, fun, fresh and really really really good. It’s an entirely new genre of music, due to the fact they have no barriers. The sound on Tree of Tongues is a unique sound and I am literally blown away after each and every listen.

Full Album Streams! PSYCROPTIC & BLEEDING THROUGH

Psycroptic’sThe Inherited Repression” is streaming over here at Guitar World and it’s a must listen to. I’m barely into and I’m liking what I am hearing. Great song writing and technical death metal.

I have not listened to Bleeding Through since 2005, I just grew out of them and into more death metal. What I’m hearing now off of the “The Great Fire” sounds like they have dipped their toes into the murky unholy waters of black metal with a touch of Hatebreed fueled hardcore. Check out their new album at AOL!

8 Year Old JULIET Writes “Her First Hardcore Song”. A MUST WATCH!

Cute and hilariously heavy at the same time, Juliet comes out of nowhere and unleashes this hardcore song with one sweet breakdown on a trampoline, destroying all of those that get in her way in the pit. I applaud this and hope she puts out more songs/videos, because honestly this is great. I’m going to play this for my daughter when I get home.

I just subscribed, their little family looks so adorable and shows that even metal heads with tattoo’s and piercings can be good parents. =)

Hatebreed – Defeatist

Trapped within your own apathy
Spiraling into a cycle of loss
Beaten mind with a bruised reflection
It’s addiction to failure of substances
That ties you to your selfish punishment
In you eyes it’s cursed
No fix, no cure, tortured with imperfection
Your hatred is aimless
This is my hatred, this is my vow
Never to be broken
Erogenous
Cause you HATE yourself
And you HATE this world
And you HATE the fact
That you HATE every moment

Defeatist, you and I will never be the same!
I’ve taken this vow of hatred, TAKE THE VOW
A promise to myself to never be my own defeatist
This is my hatred, this is my vow
Never to be broken

Cause you HATE yourself
And you HATE this world
And you HATE the fact
That you HATE every moment

Defeatist, you and I will never be the same!

I take this vow
I take this vow of hatred
I take this vow, never to be broken
