MORE THINGS THAT KICKED ASS IN 2011

Here is some more greatness of 2011. More personal opinions that hardly matter but I feel as though they should be shared. Here are some more “best of 2011″ mini-lists. An award ceremony if you will. Except there are no awards. The only award is us listening to them and their music.

Wednesday Wreck-ommendations. Music to play around the family during Thanksgiving without hearing dumb shit on the radio or even the dreaded X-mas station!

Something slightly different. I’m going to recommend a couple a of bands/albums to get you through tomorrow and possibly even Friday. Since a lot of people are going to be visiting family and I’m sure Grandma Betty does not want to hear Wolves In The Throne Room or Carnifex. I will do my best to give you some choices to help ease the pain a little. So here goes nothing.

First off we have two EP’s from a man named Eddie Kim. One was just released earlier this week and the other one was released earlier this year. Both can be found on his bandcamp page.

Click here to get to the PERIGEE EP. This EP is very calm and collective. Good instrumental album.

Here is the DEADFALL EP. This EP is calm as well but with more djenty goodness.

Another great album is Chelsea Wolfe’s “Ἀποκάλυψις” (Apokalypsis). Hard to place a specific genre or relate it to something else…just incredibly dark and sang really well.

Cloudkicker is another great band to enjoy while dealing with family battles over mashed potatoes. The band just released two EP’s on their (his) bandcamp page. Make sure you pick these two up. Hell I think even the old BEACONS album is still available as well.

Slightly heavy but still more on the chill side of things, Junius. Their latest album “Reports From The Threshold Of Death” is fucking good. Really fucking good. No seriously.

Russian Circles released a phenomenal album entitled “Empros” last month and holy hell it’s truly great stuff. Don’t believe me? Listen, you can thank me later.

DEADFALL cover a shitty song and make it awesome. Also post up a “studio update”.

Covering Devs “Dancing In The Dark”, Deadfall have managed to make this song sound like a truly bad ass death metal track. Check it out here.

You can download the MP3 HERE.

Here is what the guys have been working on recently. I cannot wait for a new DEADFALL album. The last EP was amazing.

Speaking of Deadfall, they cover a Donkey Kong Country track and it FUCKING RULES

Deadfall, whom I literally just mentioned not 5 minutes ago, have released a video of them covering/recording their version of the best song to ever come out of a Donkey Kong game, Aquatic Ambience. They make it still ambient, yet very heavy. Enjoy the headbang sesh.

RLotD!!! Deadfall – In Divergence

Today’s Random Lyric of the Day has no lyrics at all. It is however a phenomenal instrumental track made by two fellas who form a group known as DEADFALL. This track is off of their latest EP entitled, New Light. If you like what you hear, head on over to Deadfall’s Bandcamp for the full EP. I highly suggest downloading it and giving them a few dollars. They are quality musicians who deserve every penny!

Eddie Kim from Deadfall is working on new material.

Eddie Kim is a highly talented musician who has released two albums this year. One under his name and another called “Deadfall”. Deadfall is a instrumental djent styled band made of two people, Eddie Kim and Sean Dusoe on bass guitar. Highly underrated and not even on the radar, Deadfall offer something heavy and soothing at the same time. The New Light EP is something special and seriously is one of the coolest albums to listen to. I highly suggest downloading it here, you can name your price. If you can donate something to this artist. He deserves it.

(Seriously, I don’t even care for Djent and I love this album.) View my Qreview here for more info.
