SOULFLY Perform “World Scum” Live in San Diego, Bring Travis Ryan (Cattle Decapitation) On Stage To Belt Out His Part

I’ve already heard this song countless times already but seeing Travis perform that second verse of his brought chills up and down my spine. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this track makes me want new Cattle Decapitation more so than Soulfly. The new Soulfly album is alright but Cattle Decap is just simply amazing. Check out the performance below!

NEW SONG: CATTLE DECAPITATION – “A Living, Breathing Piece of Defecating Meat” & Album Art/Title REVEALED!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Surprise to me, Cattle Decapitation’s new song has become available earlier than expected…..it must be my birthday!!! Cattle Decapitation’s new album “Monolith of Inhumanity” will be released on May 8th through Metal Blade Records. Their new single, “A Living, Breathing Piece of Defecating Meat“, may have a disgusting ring to it but the music itself is far from gross. Travis’ vocals are once again impressive (How does he do this, album after album?!?!?!) and the music is more constructed towards a good death groove compared to their previous works with over the top guitar work. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still incredibly sinister and evil and heavy as all hell, the riffs seem to be more focused on palm muted tremolo riffs on this particular track. Not much of a solo, just some good ol’ guitar screams. The drum work is maniacal and the gravity blasts return to puncture your skull. “A Living, Breathing Piece of Defecating Meat” is an instant classic, it’s got me fucking pumped for this new album.

Track Listing:

01. The Carbon Stampede
02. Dead Set On Suicide
03. A Living, Breathing Piece of Defecating Meat

05. Gristle Licker
06. Projectile Ovulation
07. Lifestalker
08. Do Not Resuscitate
09. Your Disposal

11. Kingdom of Tyrants

CATTLE DECAPITATION: PERFORM NEW TRACKS LIVE? (Video)

I fucking love Cattle Decapitation. The video shows them opening up with a song that does not sound familiar to me at all, so my initial reaction is “OH BOY NEW SONG!!!!”. If I am wrong, continue to flame me in the comments section. Oh the video shows the band performing a new track then “A Body Farm” & what sounds to be another new track!

BATTLECROSS: Perform “Breaking You” Live In Kansas City!

FUCK YEAH!!!!

I’ve barely heard of Battlecross‘ music before I saw them the other night. Feb 29th to be exact and they came from Michigan and filled in for Cerebral Bore and Fallujah on a very short notice. They got the call, packed their shit and hauled ass to Kansas City, MO and rocked the fucking place. I was impressed and I’m now a big fan of these guys! I’ll be seeing them live again with Origin, Cattle Decapitation, Aborted and Decrepit Birth in April! Hail the almighty force that is BATTLECROSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Review of their set will be up shortly.

Concert Review – GORNOGRAPHY

Feb 29th, 2012 at The Beaumont Club here in Kansas City, MO. Gornography technically wasn’t the first band to take the stage but they damn sure were the first band to get shit going. Gornography is a technical death metal band who are actually local and personally to me they are easily the top 3 metal acts in the Kansas City, MO area. This was my first time ever seeing the band perform live however, all previous enjoyment of the band has been through audio only.

Gornography kicked off their set with the song “Visions of Gore“, which is one of the first songs I heard from the band. The sound was loud, thick and heavy. From where I was standing, dead center and up front, I could hear the vocals pretty clearly, bass guitar was barely audible and guitars were a little faint. Drums were as clear as day though as Chris Wilson pounded on the kit faster than anyone in the entire Midwest. The lighting wasn’t anything particularly special because it’s an opening technical death grind band, they do not need gimmicks, weird lighting and bullshit like that. Gornography just comes out, fucks your face and leaves. The way I like it.

HOLY FUCK TOUR: Origin, Cattle Decapitation, Decrepit Birth, Aborted, Rings of Saturn and Battlecross!!!

The Occupation Domination tour looks to be one of the heaviest tours in the North Americas. With acts like Origin, Cattle Decapitation, Aborted and Decrepit Birth rounding out the top 4, even that itself is heavier than most tours. What is this? “Special performances by Loculus, Embryonic Devourment, Do Not Resuscitate & Face of Ruin“, well I need to check out who these bands are! I don’t know which is heavier, this one or the current Hate Eternal/Goatwhore/Cerebral Bore/Fallujah tour.

SO MUCH DEATH METAL. SO MUCH HEADBANGING TO BE HAD.

CATTLE DECAPITATION have finished recording!!!

From their Facebook: “THE NEW ALBUM IS FINISHED!!! Leaving Denver now… See you on the slab.”

FUCKING FUCK YES! Cattle Decapitation are one of the bands I’m heavily waiting on to hear new material from. I cannot wait to hear this new album that has no release date, title or even 5 seconds of sound leaked. GET FUCKING EXCITED!!!

This new song makes me want to kick down a fucking building.

SOULFLY Album Details, Tons Of Info

ripped from blabbermouth:
SOULFLY will release its eighth album, “Enslaved”, on March 13 via Roadrunner Records. The CD was recorded at Tallcat Studios in Phoenix, Arizona and was produced by Chris “Zeuss” Harris, the seasoned knob twiddler behind some of the most notable bands in metal today, such as SHADOWS FALL, HATEBREED, THE RED CHORD and more. SOULFLY vocalist/guitarist Max Cavalera also shared production duties.

SOULFLY‘s current lineup features Max and guitar dynamo Marc Rizzo, with STATIC-X‘s Tony Campos taking up the bass. The lineup is rounded out by drummer David Kinkade (BORKNAGAR, ARSIS, MALEVOLENT CREATION), a new-school, extreme skinsman whose brutality behind the kit brings a new flavor to the band.

While many groups barely make it to a third album, SOULFLY is still going strong two decades deep. 2012 also marks the band’s 15th anniversary of making a tribally-influenced metallic racket and what better way to celebrate than with a new record? The album will be released via longtime label Roadrunner, which has been SOULFLY‘s home for the course of its career. The label has also been Cavalera‘s home for the duration of his career, which began in the ’80s as a member of SEPULTURA, who essentially rewrote the rules of heavy music when they arrived on the scene; Max continues to do the same today.

As is customary with SOULFLY, the band will introduce some new and unexpected elements into the mix, including a guest violinist. SOULFLY also collaborates with two metal veterans: Dez Fafara of DEVILDRIVER and Travis Ryan of CATTLE DECAPITATION. With Dez and Max sharing a longtime connection through the Roadrunner family, it was only a matter of time before Fafara guested on a SOULFLY album.

Cavalera wrote a song, “Revengeance”, about his slain stepson Dana Wells, whose death was the catalyst for the creation of SOULFLY. He partners with his sons Igor and Richie on vocals, while his other son Zyon plays drums. It is the first time Max has performed with three of his sons.

The band tracked 14 songs, 11 of which will be on the record, with the other three being made available for the special edition.

Track titles are as follows:

* Resistance
* World Scum
* Intervention
* Gladiator
* Legions
* American Steel
* Redemption Of Man By God
* Treachery
* Plata O Plomo
* Revengeance
* Chains
* Slave
* Bastards
* Soulfly VIII

Travis Ryan — who was a replacement for SOULFLY‘s original choice, OCEANO‘s Adam Warren — recorded his portion of the vocals at Frick’in Studios in San Marcos, California with engineer Dan Frick.

Commented Ryan: “It’s an honor to receive a call from someone you had pictures of on your wall as a kid asking you to be on a new album of theirs. I literally had a picture of Max [Cavalera, SOULFLY mainman] and Gloria [Max's wife and manager] holding [Gloria's son] Richie in her arms that I ripped out of a copy of Metal Maniacs on my wall when I was 15 or 16. Now they’re asking for my artistic hand in one of their creations; [it] just doesn’t get much more surreal than that. Very honored and the song is very ‘death metal-ish’ and completely crushes. Happy to be a part of it!”

Zeuss stated about Travis‘ contribution, “The vocals fucking rule!!!! Fits the song perfect… Very refreshing for me to hear these days.”

CATTLE DECAPITATION: An Update From Gore King TRAVIS RYAN

From Travis Ryan himself, supreme bad ass vocalist of Cattle Decapitation:

“We spent the first two days mapping out tempos and getting things situated, drums mic’d all that stuff. We are on day three of tracking drums and everything is sounding great! We’re excited to start laying down some tones and getting this beast finished and in the hands of our fans and friends.”

Fans of the band can look forward to studio video reports via the band’s YOUTUBE channel and getting the full album details in the coming weeks when album title, cover image and track listing as well as immediate U.S. and European tour plans are revealed!

LATE AS FUCK FRETBOARD FRIDAY – MASTODON AND CATTLE DECAPITATION

Here are two videos from two bands I respect. The first video is a Mastodon running through their song Divinations off of their album Crack The Skye. This video is hilariously good because they nail the song even though the timing gets fucked up right after the solo. Here are the tabs for the song.

Next up is Josh Elmore from Cattle Decapitation playing some riffs from Regret and the Grave off of their latest album The Harvest Floor. Click here for the tabs and enjoy the video. (I could only find the Guitar Pro version, sorry)
