Inverloch, a new death/doom band that is releasing a 3 song EP on April 10th entitled “Dusk | Subside“, has recently put out one of their songs on Pitchfork for your listening pleasure. Shadows of the Flame is no joke, the song is heavy, catchy and has a cool ultra slow part with a blasting snare drum and some beast vocals. I highly recommend giving this song and this band a try. Very good death/doom metal coming from these guys.
Rat AIDS brings you their newest love song appropriately called, “Buttsex Baby Mutant Horror Shit Raisin Balls Aids Doll (Let Me Hold You Sweetie)“. The track will be on their new album, The Honey Store, which will be out soon. The song features a sample of Mr/Mrs. Garrison from South Park talking about evolution and Rat AIDS just comes in and makes it a pure love ballad. Check it out.

Well damn. Someone just straight up left the venue with Kendrick’s red ESP Horizon that apparently he especially uses for a certain song while playing live. The theft happened in Joliet, IL after the band performed. If you happen to see this man (pictured below, click to enlarge) then get a hold of authority and report the suspect. Get Jeff his guitar back!
Crator come out of nowhere and put this work out. Head on over to their Facebook page, give them a “like” then listen in on the 3 song demo they have on their music tab. The tunes are pretty rad. This is a random special treat, you usually don’t get some good new music that is this good early in the morning like this. Not much info has been released. I don’t see anything specific about band members, when an official release will be put out or if they are even a touring act. I just know that this death metal is gooooood.

It’s obvious that Brendon Small is a genius and ultra talented person. He managed to create a bad ass metal cartoon show with actual music that he himself made, went on tour under the Dethklok name and lived like a rock star with one of the coolest tour buses I’ve ever seen. Now Mr. Small is putting out another big hit, this time with his new project Galaktikon and I must say….bravo. I didn’t know what to expect but I had a feeling it would just sound like Dethklok. Well…no actually, not even close. The song “On My Way” has no death metal vocals or even super fast tremolo picking and blast beats. It features some great riffs, sweet licks and a groovy bass line. Drums are great and the coolest thing about the vocals is there is actual singing going on. It’s like Snakes n Barrels meets Devin Townsend in a weird way. Just listen to the song, you’ll dig it.

Just for fun, I want to share with you my top five albums of the year so far. These albums are great and I think they’ll be contenders for the end of the year list that is just SO much fun to put together. So far we have the following:
5: Exotic Animal Petting Zoo – Tree of Tongues. This awesome gem was an unexpected gift sent to me for review. I’ve never heard of the band until earlier this year and the album just continues to get played to this day. I rocked this shit while in the garage yesterday! It’s really good.
4: Cannibal Corpse – Torture. It just came out but this one is on a continuous loop , I listen to it twice a day at least. The songs on the album are just so fucking entertaining. It takes no time at all to fully enjoy this album for what it is.
3: Plague Widow – 2012 EP. A new band with a big sound. This is how you do death grind. Songs are short, to the point and incredibly heavy. If you haven’t checked out Plague Widow yet after all of these posts I’ve been making you are a fucking retard.
2: Crosses – EP II. Not metal, actually far from it. Chino Moreno/Shaun Lopez/Chuck Doom come together to write some beautiful music. It’s slow & tragic yet romantic. Crosses is one of the best side projects to have come out in recent years.
1: Woods of Ypres – Woods V: Grey Skies & Electric Light. Words cannot describe my love for this album. The bands final album, Woods V, is a really tough album for me to listen to and sing along to all the way through and not get a tear built up. I miss David Gold and this is his amazing last work of art. This album inspires me, it motivates me, it calms me and it makes me think. Not to mention the tunes are fucking good, this is a different take on doom. It’s not just toned down guitars and growling, it’s singing….really good singing. David’s lowest vocal tone ever, and the fact there are so many instruments contributing to the sound on this album makes Woods V that much more unique. Also, even with all of the heavy death metal put out so far this year, nothing makes me headbang harder then the part on “Alternate Ending” on the 1:48 mark, the doom breakdown is so fucking good. I love this album. RIP David Gold, you’ve inspired more than any man ever has.
Not much to say really, it’s Manson cover art. Nothing exciting, more underwhelming than anything. Then again Manson self portrait has always been the main focus on his cover art, just with make up and bullshit splashed all over him. Not really creative at all.
I do love me a good cover, it’s rare to fully appreciate a cover when the original is so good. However this young gentleman whose name is Sam Abbott plays Mastodon’s entire album “Leviathan” in one take. One take! Not only is this just magical, it’s another reason to respect both classical music and current works in metal. Not all metal is art, I know this but jeez man Sam does an incredible job playing on those keys. Now when you need to play something good but your daughter is in the room yet you still wanna rock out….put this video on!! Much respect to Sam Abbott and his incredible cover. Make sure you visit his Soundcloud and download the track so you can listen to it wherever you go.

So I checked out the new 3 Inches of Blood album yesterday appropriately titled “Long Live Heavy Metal” and it’s just that, heavy fucking metal. With songs like Metal Woman, Leather Lord, Look Out & Die For Gold, you can rest assure that this album is just a pure headbangin’, beer drinkin, axe grinding good time. It’s been too long since I’ve jammed out on some 3IoB, I mean I completely missed out on 2009′s release of “Here Awaits Thy Doom“, my last sampling of 3IoB is Fire Up The Blades! Cam Pipes still has it man, his voice may be Judas Priest-ish but I think he rocks it perfectly without sounding like a cheap ripoff. The band rights solid metal music and I’m quite impressed so far as to what I am hearing. So grab your swords and shields! Long Live Heavy Metal is one epic quest and will be available March 26th through Century Media.
Look for the actual review next week. Until then, turn up the volume and headbang to this track.

I feel high and I haven’t smoked in months…this song is quite moving. Simple yet very good.

According to the MTV News, actor Johnny Depp and shock rocker Marilyn Manson recorded a cover of Carly Simon‘s 1972 hit “You’re So Vain” for the singer’s upcoming eighth studio album, “Born Villain”, which is due out on May 1. Depp reportedly played both the lead guitar and drums on the track, while Manson handled the vocal duties.
Speaking about the collaboration, Manson told MTV News that the duo decided on doing “a cover of a song which we thought was ironic for each other.” He added, “[Johnny] played drums and lead guitar, and I played guitar and sang. It’s a bonus track on my new record and the video will probably be us looking at each other in a mirror.”
I wonder if Tim Burton has any say in this partnership. If you haven’t heard Manson’s new track, do it. It’s not too shabby.
Plague Widow bringing straight up death metal to some poor radio station and their listener base. I hope they were ready for them because Plague Widow punishes, in a good way. Like bear hugging a toddler. Anyways, here is the band performing their song Assimilated Subconscious for Raise The Dead -KDVS, DAVIS 90.3FM

Surprise to me, Cattle Decapitation’s new song has become available earlier than expected…..it must be my birthday!!! Cattle Decapitation’s new album “Monolith of Inhumanity” will be released on May 8th through Metal Blade Records. Their new single, “A Living, Breathing Piece of Defecating Meat“, may have a disgusting ring to it but the music itself is far from gross. Travis’ vocals are once again impressive (How does he do this, album after album?!?!?!) and the music is more constructed towards a good death groove compared to their previous works with over the top guitar work. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still incredibly sinister and evil and heavy as all hell, the riffs seem to be more focused on palm muted tremolo riffs on this particular track. Not much of a solo, just some good ol’ guitar screams. The drum work is maniacal and the gravity blasts return to puncture your skull. “A Living, Breathing Piece of Defecating Meat” is an instant classic, it’s got me fucking pumped for this new album.
