I barely listen to Periphery but when I see a big ruckus about a band covering someone I use to jam on a daily basis…of course I’m going to check it out. The result is a legit cover, a homage to where we were a decade ago. Fueling hate into teens and making them scream “666″ and “fuck” more than most bands of that time who blew up near the Nü metal era. Periphery gives the song justice and it’s pretty damn good! Wear is my backpack and my driving permit? I have to get to my part time job and listen to Slipknot whilst doing so.

Blackened Hardcore? Never thought I would see those two words together. Never thought they would work so well together too! Unsacred, hailing from Virginia, produce an almost entirely new sound of metal. With the epic feel of black metal, the violent behavior of hardcore tempos, Unsacred mesh together a sound that is frighteningly good. The EP they have on their bandcamp is great and I fully enjoyed it from start to finish. The vocals are loud and obnoxious like a good hardcore/punk band, the riffs are superior and the drum work holds things down really tight. I love it when the band slows it down just a little bit and adds that third element to the party, sludge. This band nails 3 genres really well and blends them all together to produce something new, something great. Check them out on their bandcamp and their Facebook page! \w/

Cyber grind band Malodorous has issued a release date for their new 3 song demo entitled “Augury of the Aborted“!!!!! There is massive improvement from this release and the last one. WOWOWOWOWOWOWWWWW.

I fucking love Cattle Decapitation. The video shows them opening up with a song that does not sound familiar to me at all, so my initial reaction is “OH BOY NEW SONG!!!!”. If I am wrong, continue to flame me in the comments section. Oh the video shows the band performing a new track then “A Body Farm” & what sounds to be another new track!
Hailing from Callaway, FL comes forth 4 young gents (Not Djents, fuck you) who bring us monstrous death metal. The tracks on their Facebook page are killer and there are more gems to find on YouTube. No seriously this is some impressive metal especially when you think “Oh who is this? Never heard of them, I guess I’ll check them out.” Then they punch you in the face with their music and blow you away. Their sound is true, this is not core, this has no gimmicks….this is straight up death metal. Screams, riffs, double bass and blasts. What more could you want? Seriously give these guys a listen to, “Like” their Facebook page and support new young talent!!! Painful Quandary prove once again that Florida is home for real death metal.

Vince says “7 Horns 7 Eyes are cinematic, dramatic, intense, dark and moody — characteristics that aren’t necessarily that hard to find in metal — but the way these guys put all the pieces together is wholly unique and fresh.” and I would have to agree with him. This track sounds really fucking…..NEW. Blending the best part from a few genres and turning it into this massive beast of a track. I hope the entire album is as good as this!
At The Graves has posted up their latest album “Solar” on their bandcamp and it’s some damn good groovin’ sludge. Even slowing it down a bit here n there and adding a doom element to it. The music has a slight grunge feel to it as well, vocals are an aggressive attack and are organic. They don’t feel over processed and “Pro-Tooled”, they feel natural and the music production sounds pretty fucking good too. Again, not overly processed and computerized. Give At The Graves a listen to, you will enjoy what you hear. If you INSIST that I make a comparison I’d say ATG has an eerie sound like The Atlas Moth and a sludge tone similar to Torche. It’s good shit, go listen to it now.

As “Kicking” suggests, despite the new lineup and imprint, vocalist/gutarist Steve Brooks’ knack for sludgy pop anthems remains unchanged.

Oh man! Long Live Heavy Metal INDEED!!! It’s been nearly 4 years since I’ve listened to some 3 Inches Of Blood and I can say, WOW, what was I thinking?! I forgot how much I love this bands music. I’ve seen 3 Inches Of Blood live a few times, even once during a nasty storm when it was raining sideways. THAT WAS SOOOO FUCKING EPIC!!! They had to cut their set short because the rain wasn’t letting up but it was one of the best sets I’ve witnessed.
This new song “Leather Lord” has me all pumped up! I cannot wait to see them in April! Long Live Heavy Metal will be released on March 27th via Century Media Records.

Psycroptic’s “The Inherited Repression” is streaming over here at Guitar World and it’s a must listen to. I’m barely into and I’m liking what I am hearing. Great song writing and technical death metal.
I have not listened to Bleeding Through since 2005, I just grew out of them and into more death metal. What I’m hearing now off of the “The Great Fire” sounds like they have dipped their toes into the murky unholy waters of black metal with a touch of Hatebreed fueled hardcore.
